“ Books are our greatest companions, taking us on adventures without ever leaving our seats.”
Michael Rosen
At Knop Law Primary School, we believe that literacy and communication are key life skills which form the foundations for future learning. We aim to empower children to navigate the world effectively by providing them with opportunities to develop strong reading and writing skills from an early age, setting the stage for life long, successful learning.
Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. It enhances vocabulary skills, fosters critical thinking and promotes empathy by exposing readers to diverse perspectives. Exposure to a wide variety of texts stimulates imagination and creativity and provides a deeper understanding of the world.
It is vital that children develop fluency, comprehension and confidence to allow them to understand and access the curriculum as a whole. The high quality, systematic phonics lessons and imaginative exploration of stories delivered in Early Years and Key stage 1 pave the way for our ambitious, creative and engaging literacy curriculum. Throughout the school, children explore a wide range of books which are carefully chosen to ignite their imagination and inspire their flair and confidence as writers.
Our aim is for all children to develop a love of literature alongside the confidence, fluency and creativity needed in literacy to support them for the rest of their lives.
“If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.”
Martin Luther
